I’m very curious what others think of this. I could see it being somewhat divisive. …or maybe plain boring!

Dom,

This is really, really cool! Great eye to spot this and recognize the opportunity.

You didn’t mention exactly what this is, but I think somewhat easy to figure out - running water over a static creek bottom with a long enough exposure to produce the streaks. For a natural abstract like this, it doesn’t really matter though… But the result is dynamic.

I like the balance between the static bottom and the short streaks and highlights. This is an image that one could spend some time just exploring; looking for surprising details.

One might say I’m always looking for nitpicks… but really just looking for minor details to improve an image. And with that, there’s a much brighter streak breaching the bottom edge. You might burn that down a little. I think cloning all together might take away from the overall impact.

You mentioned “Time.” Great title! To me, it invokes the concept and something I think about, especially around moving water, about time; that moment of time that passes so quickly simply by watching foam or sticks or leaves, whatever, floating down a creek or river. How long before those little things make it to the ocean? Or get left on a bank… or settle in the bottom of a resevoir. All those things relating to passing and moments of time.

Thanks Lon - I’m glad you like it  I intentionally didn’t mention what it was, I was curious how obvious that would be - but yes, it’s a small stream, I was initially drawn to the way the logs overlap and a green leaf that was sitting on the surface, but when I realised the water was actually moving quite fast, or at least a lot faster than I initially thought, I realised the opportunity to create the effect you see now. You’re right about that little streak at the bottom, I’ve attached another version where I’ve quietened it down a little - this image lives or dies on those streaks, it’s been a lot of work to get them right… or well, where they are now at least! The title ‘Time’ jumped out at me while I was editing it, I like the static logs with everything moving around them… although it does also make me think of the Enterprise at warp speed

Dom,

Thanks for taking the time to consider the feedback. For me, that subtle change, IMHO, improved the image!
