. .Or Not?

Description

Lowe’s Water Gardens in northwest Houston is a water lily paradise. This pretty pair was happy to pose for me. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Could not decide between the echo comp with the OOF second flower vs the blended image with 2 shots focused on the flower centers. Your preference?

Striking! I’ll vote for #2, with both blooms in focus.
Gorgeous colours, exquisite detail, and perfect comp.
The BG adds a lot, with subtle colour and texture.

Hi Bill. I’d have to go with the second in this case. In the “echo” image, I find my eye going first to the out of focus flower, then to the in-focus one, which feels awkward. I tried a horizontal flip and that helped (see below), but I think to really make it work you’d want the in-focus flower closer to level with the echo and to the left of it (for us left-to-right oriented folks at least).

Another vote for both in focus. They’e so striking and looking all tall and fresh - can’t lose that in blur. I also like the “brindle” lily pads - I don’t think we have any that look like that up here. Hope to put the kayak in the water next week (just put the rack on the Jeep) so I’ll keep an eye out.
