Tough Characters

I was out a few weeks ago on a cold and blustery day and took a photo of this eagle. It was not an uncommon sight to see an eagle perched on this pole about 60 feet in the air. The perch gives them an ideal view over the bay and relatively close to any action. When I had a closer look I could see how the talons had punched a hole in the aluminum sheeting on top of the pole. Tough characters had gradually worn themselves a toe hold.

Excellent documentary images, David I really like the composition of the second image-I think you framed it just right. The detail and pose of the eagle are very good as well. The close crop view is a nice extra and the detail held up very well to the crop.
