Am interested in hearing recommendations for website hosting. In particular, thoughts on Pixieset, Squarespace, WideRange Galleries, etc.? Pros/Cons.
Hi Christine,
I put together this blog post a number of years ago, but think it’s still relevant. I’ve never used Pixieset, which looks like a nice option to get started.
Super!! Thank you!
I concur with David’s blog post, especially using SmugMug. One other vendor for a WordPress blog/website hosting option is ProPhoto. I have used their WordPress add-on for years and now switched to their hosting service as well since my previous host is getting out of the hosting business.
Benjamin at ProPhoto was amazing to work with after I tried several times over the last few years to move my site myself to BlueHost. He moved and fixed all the errors within a day of moving my site. If you’re starting from scratch with a new website, ProPhoto has lots of options and they are very reasonably priced.
If you’re a “Pro” and have the budget, Wild Range does a lot of the high-end, full-time, professional photographers sites. Definitely, they don’t have a “WordPress Template” look.
Thx Keith!
I’ve used Zenfolio for many years and been happy. Lots of templates for every layout and page, so it all looks custom (IMO). I’ve gotten a number of sales from my site, too, which is always welcome.
Haven’t done a cost comparison, though..
Just did : Zenfolio = about $225/yr, ProPhoto says $25/mo for the first year (to get you hooked! ) = $300, then likely a sizeable increase.
Thank you Sandy!
