About This Image

While shooting a family of coyotes in Fort Collins a few weeks ago, I noticed the backlight on these weeds along the railroad corridor. It was right around sunset and I loved the colors.

Feedback Requested

This was not well thought-out, just a few shots from the parking lot as we were leaving after a coyote viewing session. I just liked the colors :slight_smile:

Debbie: oh this is well seen! The light and DOF choice really make this special and a perfect entry for the challenge. Most excellent.>=))>

@Huw_Thomas @Bill_Fach Thank you so much, I was attracted by the colors first and foremost.

Debbie, thank you for sharing this image. I love shooting whistles. They aren’t friendly and arouse negative emotions so they are considered ugly at the first sight. However sometimes they are beautiful, especially colorful inflorescences. Their ubiquitous thorns require just the appriopriate light. All this is in your image. The rail in the background strenghtens your composition and the house completes the scenery.

I was thinking about cropping that yellow grass and keeping only the whistle. Your crop is better balanced.

Great image.

Debbie, the backlight has done a fine job of setting the thistles aglow. I also like how they don’t fill the frame and are set off by the blue tones in the track bed behind them. This is a fine look at what we often would call “junk”. Nicely seen and presented.

@JacekZielinski Yes, sometimes they are beautiful! Thank you.

@Mark_Seaver Thank you!

Debbie,

This is a striking and well seen image. I think the light on the thistles is fantastic. It is truly a humble subject, particularly with the OOF rail in the background. Great work I don’t see anything I would do differently.
