John, this is a great pattern shot. Getting the shadow exactly halfway across the squares adds an excellent third level of symmetry, while having everything angled creates a strong eye movement.

Thanks, Mark. I’d walked over this stretch of London sidewalk the day before when the sun was hiding and, while the green flowers of the Linden tempted me, it was just pretty flat. The next day, sun added, I was in heaven.
