About This Image

Usually these flycatchers are high atop a tree. This one was as close as I’ve ever gotten to one and almost at eye level. I was walking along a trail, looked up, and there it was.

Lovely detail, setting and pose! The brightness of the lower part of the branch pulls my eye a bit – I would consider darkening it, or even going to a vertical crop to remove much of it. The bird’s pose is restful enough that I don’t see an issue with it being more centered. But an excellent find in any regard!

Great job on the Pewee, Allen. If it’s possible, I’d tone down the brighter areas of the stub as they tend to pull my eye away from the bird.

Great view of this peewee Allen. Fine head turn, details and I like the background. Agree with toning down the bright spot on the perch.

Hi Allen
Don’t love nature, sometimes the shot is just there. Nice framing and Wester Wood-Pewee eye contact hold the viewer’s attention.

Excellent shot of the western wood pewee.

I would also consider darkening the bark on the log in addition to darkening some of the other white spots that draw my eye.
Good detail and pose.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these for the reason you talk about - they stay very high up. Plus they are tiny. I hear them all the time though so I know they are around. Such an excellent shot and a testament to your skill and quickness with your rig. Agree about the perch. What a terrific portrait of an elusive little cutie.
