Image Description

I almost didn’t submit this photo for critique because I know the image quality is crap, however when I look at this image it takes me right back to earlier this year when I took this shot. We were driving in the middle of a sand storm and off to the left we saw several dromedary. We pull over, jump out and within minutes our eyes and hair were full of sand. Every time I look at this image I feel the excitement of being there.

Specific Feedback

First impressions only please.

I’m almost chocking on the dust. Certainly captures the dryness of the scene. It isn’t terrible, but the vignette is too strong.

I agree on the vignette,I will try and upload a new edit.

Reminds me of my time in Mauritania.

Youssef, this photo was taken in Morocco, so very close to Mauritania.

Looks nostalgic

Santhru, having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, this was an exotic scene for me. I knew I wanted to capture it, even though the wind and sand got into everything. This image brings that moment back to me and I love it.

Alice, the yellow/brown tones do a good job of telling the story. It looks very uncomfortable. Removing the visible vignette looks good although it alos reduces yellowish tones. You could go to sepia toned b&w. My other thought is that it would be good to not have the camels so centered.

Hi Mark, thank you for checking out my photo. I tried to offset the camels in the first photo, only slightly, I didn’t have a lot of area to crop and I didn’t want to get to tight. I see I omitted the crop on the repost. I might play around with and see if I can add a little yellow and still maintain the overall look.
Thank you
Alice

I like the image. My initial response was negative in any aspect. The only nit pic I have is that I would have cropped out the tumbleweed or whatever it is, at the very bottom edge and made the image 16x9. Other than that I take the image as it is. I could see myself hanging it on the wall. I like it! Good Luck
P. S.
Just went back to look at original. I am see you already cropped into top of image. Like I said, I would also remove the very bottom bush, too.

I prefer the camels centered. To me it makes for a much stronger environmental image. The camels are not just the subject but so is the blowing sand and the landscape.

Thank you George. I really like a 16x9 crop so I went back and applied that aspect ratio and cleaned up some of the brush at the bottom edge. I also decided that I wanted to add a touch more vignette, but not as much as original.
Thank you for your input.
