Winter Light

On a whim, I drove up to the Grand Canyon this winter. As the conditions looked quite good, I decided to stay overnight. Luckily I did. The following day was a spectacle of clouds, snow and light that lasted throughout the day. Even though I was ill prepared for the brutal cold, I visited different overlooks on the south rim for 12 hours, taking in this incredible show put on by Mother Nature.

Fritz, I love, love, love the soft tones and colors in this image. The clouds, the snow layers of peaks, and the golden red layer of peaks blend together perfectly. What a beautiful job of processing this image. I love that the colors are soft and not over saturated. Just wonderful.
