About This Image
Found this nice stand of aspens while exploring the Horicon Marsh area of Wisconsin with @Kris_Smith. The bands of color were what first caught my eye, and I like aspens for ICM because of the strong contrast in the tree trunks. There were leaves remaining only at the tops of the aspens and I really like how it emphasizes the vertical in the image.

To me it feels like a quiet fall day with fairly soft light and a little bit of autumn color remaining. Does that come through in the image?
It sure does come through, Debbie. A very beautiful ICM of the aspen stand and the evergreens along the bottom and aspen leaves at the top add a lot to the image. I don’t know if it fits with your vision of this scene, but I could see a linear gradient through the aspen tops with a slight increase in luminosity there if you want to play with it. It’s a gorgeous image as posted.
Oh wow – this is gorgeous!! It pegs the drool-meter! Just the right detail and movement in the lovely trunks, with the leaves and ground framing them so nicely! And the colors are so nice with variation in the yellows and a hint of them at the bottom. This is a framer!!
Oooh this is quite lovely. You are right when you told me it’s kind of a crapshoot, but you taught me the basics. This speaks to the nature of the tree and how they are one organism rather than separate entities. Quite cohesive and WAY better than anything I pathetically came up with during our walks. Fab.
This is gorgeous, Debbie. The clear crisp blue in the background makes it special, and you totally nailed the shutter speed and movement to get a nice top and bottom in the grave and the trunks just sinuous enough to evoke some energy.
