Description
Cleaning up the archives again. This was in a dilapidated concrete block structure with the side walls almost against it and resting on a messy floor. The top half of the BG was the naturally dark interior and I carried it around the rest of the object – whatever it is. I swear I did not touch anything before shooting it (I was afraid to get too close for fear of being shot myself – one of those places) and except for the black I did not rearrange, add or tweak a single pixel in processing. I swear!!!
Thanks, @glennie! I was amazed to find this thing! The shapes in the eyes are apparently just pieces of rusty junk. I did burn them down. I’d love to know if some junkyard artist did the mouth – the teeth and tongue are incredible! It was a bright sunny day and I couldn’t see farther into the interior of this object or the building. I was shooting through a hole in a fence and couldn’t get closer.
Pretty cool face, Diane. It’s a shame someone felt compelled to paint the stupid Zoro on it (and couldn’t even spell it right). It’s a very creative whatever it is. It has the look of some kind of furnace to my eye with the remnants of the fire door and what looks like it might be a fire brick for the tongue. A great find.
Thanks, @Dennis_Plank! I thought it might be something like a boiler??? (Not that I’m exactly sure what a boiler is, or what sort of thing might be related to one.)
I thought about trying to remove the writing – could be an interesting challenge and I may have a go at it sometime. I always try to look up any sort of writing before posting anything here or on my web site, in the fear that it may say or refer to something that I never heard of and wouldn’t want to repeat.
So I Googled Zoro OSC and came up with radiators and shop tools and supplies. Then on down the list I found ZORO and OSC are two teams in Europe for some sport that was so obvious it wasn’t even identified – soccer?? So still scratching my head.
Interesting about the lookup, @Diane_Miller. I suspect this related to the first hit, but it certainly doesn’t look like writing I’d use to advertise a business!
P.S. A boiler in industry is, or mostly was, the vessel that was used to produce modestly high pressure steam to run an old fashioned steam engine or more recently a steam turbine. In modern parlance it’s simply called a steam generator. It also referred to the vessel that was used to create steam for steam heating. Probably some other definitions, but those are the ones I’m familiar with.
