Critique Style Requested: Standard
The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
The symmetry inspired me, as well as the muted earth tones and the lines, both linear and curved.
Specific Feedback
All comments and suggestions are welcome and thanks for viewing.
Technical Details
Studio shot, using a Canon EOS R50, 18-45mm lens at 31mm, ISO 400, f/29, 1/20s on tripod, used timer to reduce movement. This was difficult to light, really needed a ring light but made do with two 85W bulbs on either side. About a 20% crop too.

This is pretty cool, Jim. I do like ht e symmetry and patterns in the cone. I’m not sure what’s causing it, but there appears to be some haze on the tips of some of the scales at the 9-o’clock position-maybe lighting? The plain white background works well for this.
Thanks for your response Dennis. Yes, the haze was a mystery…had cleaned my glass too so it wasn’t that, so maybe the light.
Thank you for your kind comments Sandy. The BG is just a sheet of printer paper. Hardest part was supporting the cone; used an old olive jar filled with assorted nuts and washers from my workbench. Yeah, thought it was borderline abstract but if I hadn’t noticed it myself I would have initially wondered what it was because I usually view side pine cones lying on the ground. In Sarah Marino’s Continuum of Abstraction, it’s probably only a 1 or 2 out of 5.
