Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Out today at the Pond. Water was moving and I had to try to capture that movement.

Specific Feedback

This was hand held and a tripod would have been helpful… but you have to try with what you have so I just went for it.

Technical Details

shutter 20 ISO 400 f25 Edit in Photoshop. Had fun with editing !!! learned a few things !!!

Looks fine, Gil. I don’t see any artifacts from camera movement. The ripples did a fine job of contorting the reflections.

Thanks. I’ve never done like this before. So I was flying by the seat of my pants. Came out kinda interesting and lots of flow. :pray::camera_flash::pray:

Hi Gill… I’m immediately drawn to this image. Very interesting patterns. I thought it might be interesting to crop off the small portion of the top that’s not very rippled. Then it occurred to me that it might be interesting to rotate it 90 deg and 180 deg.

To me the result is striking (in a good way). It’s amazing how much changing the orientation immediately changes the effect as different patterns emerge. Perhaps its because, especially for the version rotated 90 deg, the patterns are less immediately recognizable as ripples in water. I guess you could say it becomes more abstract when rotated, at least on its side. In any case, I think its a great image!

WOW. Another perspective. Looks great. Thanks for showing interest and another view. I LOVE IT. :camera_flash::camera_flash::camera_flash:

This is a good one, Gill. Ripples in water are an endlessly interesting subject.

Thanks so much

Very cool, and well done!! I love the tonal distribution, with enough mids to balance the darks and lights. There is a good distribution of detail size and lovely shapes and flow. Very interesting the sub-frames that can be pulled out . I do like eliminating the top to make it even more abstract. Well done! Keep playing!!

Thanks for showing interest in this image. I knew exactly how it would look when I shot it. I’m getting better at that. Maybe my vision ideas are improving.

Peace to our Planet. :pray::pray::camera_flash::camera_flash::camera_flash::earth_americas::pray::camera_flash:
