Very interesting! The larger shapes and the variety of smaller details keeps me engaged and exploring. It feels like some of the formations in Yellowstone, with possibly some tree reflections.
I always try to pull out detail in darks, but for an abstraction it isn’t necessary. And you nay be up against what the film captured.
So what is it? It’s a wonderful image! No need to know more!
I love the sense of movement here. It goes from right to left. Some people claim that images are read from left to right. You might try flipping it and see if you like it better.
I like the panoramic approach and that’s different on the left than the right. There might be a tendency to want to crop some of the right side but I prefer this more complex composition.
Very interesting image, Youssef. If it isn’t a rock formation, it does a good imitation of one. I think the dark areas are fine. I agree with Igor’s comments.
Interesting abstract Youssef. I like the layering in this image and all of what look like fracture lines add character to the layers like an aging face. The palette you chose makes me think of shale.
Youssef,
Very cool natural abstract! I’m going to comment before reading any others as to no influence what I’m seeing, thinking.
At first, I want to say some sort of rock on the coast. Shale or something layered and eroded over millennia by the surf. The long pano helps with that thought.
But then I kinda cheated in knowing what kind of subjects you like and shoot, and then I saw bark. Perhaps Incense cedar. Of course rotating it throws any thought of it being a tree out the window a bit, but still, the layering really looks like tree bark.
Regardless of what it is, this is awesome! The darkness of the shadows only help to increase the mystery. And of course, being an abstract there are no rules on shadow detail, highlights, etc.
This is just beautifully seen and presented. Kudos on a great mystery!
