Man would I have loved to have been there and experienced that myself. I have no idea what a hippo roar sounds like, and I didn’t know they added to the sounds of the night.
This image works well for me as a peaceful moment. (I definitely don’t get hippo roar from it ) I love that moment as the sun gives its last gasp, and this captures it nicely. The diagonal flows of the larger tree on the right and the smaller/distant on the left is well done.
There’s a little bit of artifact (sharpening) in the tree branches, but that’s about my only nit.

This looks like a wonderful way to end the day with the last bit of light adding some warm tones to the sky. I also like the calm water of the river and the mirror like reflections. It must have been a treat to hear the hippos roar; although I personally would not consider it soulful. For my personal tastes I would like to see just a little more detail in the shadows. Nicely done.
The narration of the hippo sounds with the image are spectacular! The image itself is wonderful, I think the almost explosive sunset complements the rightside of the image with the large tree reflected in the water! Beautiful!
