Lori´s Bio
Lori A Cash is an award-winning wildlife and nature conservation photographer who has over thirty-four years of experience photographing wildlife and nature. She, as a photographer, has always had a love for the natural world and hopes that her images will inspire others to appreciate our natural world. Lori resides in Hampton, Virginia and the main focus of her conservation efforts is photographing and storytelling about the biodiversity around the Commonwealth of Virginia. Lori is interested in documenting and advocating for habitat connectivity, especially in Virginia. Through her conservation storytelling and photography, Lori wants to inspire and educate others about the beauty of the natural world and to advocate for the protection of our environment and wildlife.
Over the years, she has received many awards and honorable mentions in several photography contests. Lori’s wildlife and nature images have been published in a variety of media including television, magazines, newsletters, annual reports, chamber guides, travel guides, internet, social media, blogs, newspapers and calendars. Magazine publications that have published Lori’s images include Nature Vision Magazine, National Wildlife Magazine, NANPA Expressions, Virginia Wildlife Magazine, American Butterflies Magazine, WildBird, Nature Photographer, Wildlife in North Carolina Magazine and Our Common Agenda Briefing Book by Virginia Conservation Network.
Her images have been used by the following conservation organizations: Wild Virginia, Virginia Conservation Network, Virginia Community Rights Network, Capture Coexistence Campaign with Project Coyote, and the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy.
Lori also has written articles along with her images that have been published online on conservation blogs, Wild Virginia Blog, Nature Vision Magazine, Nature Photographers Network website, Journal on Think Tank Photo website as well as publishing her articles on her own website.
Lori is a partner photographer with Wild Virginia. which is a non-profit environmental conservation organization that protects and connects Virginia’s wild places. In addition, Lori is a volunteer as a member of the communication team for Wild Virginia. She is an advocate and supporter for habitat connectivity in Virginia.
She is co-founder of the Responsible Photography Collective which is a website and blog that provides resources and advocates for awareness of responsible photography for all genres of photographers.
Lori has created a conservation photography project called Butterfly Habitat Oasis Project to help the declining populations of monarch butterflies as well as all other butterflies. She wants to bring awareness about the declining population butterflies. She uses her backyard butterfly habitat oasis by photographing and writing about the life cycles of the butterflies and especially the monarch butterflies that visit her Monarch Waystation and certified butterfly garden. Lori’s is a proponent for the need to create more butterfly habitat spaces to help with the butterfly’s survival.
She is a member of North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and a member of the North American Butterfly Association. She is an affiliate with Think Tank Photo and Nature Photographers Network. Lori was the founding Regional Coordinator for the Outer Banks Region of the Carolinas’ Nature Photographers Association.
