Another Martin in flight

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Jim’s great image of the female martin reminded me I spent some time on my trip to Magee Marsh attempting to capture martins in flight. This isn’t as dramatic as Jim’s banking shot and I’d prefer a different wing position, but overall it came out pretty well.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated, especially on the crop. I debated on how best to crop this and show some of the environment.

Technical Details

Canon R5; 100-500 with 1.4 TC at 420 mm; 1/4000 at f10, +1/3EV, ISO 1600

Outstanding!! This is so sharp I think you could have the bird a little bigger in the frame and still show some of the environment. I wonder about bringing up Shadows just a bit…

Hi Allen, great catch of this beauty. So hard to get in flight. I like both versions above. Looks like the original image could hold up to a tighter crop based on Diane’s rendition. Nice frame.

Hi Allen, yes I agree with others, sharpness is great and he really stands out against the BG. Colors look very accurate too and I appreciate the foliage included, which adds a lot of interest overall.
