I was trying to create a Pep Ventosa style photo, but I ended up with this crunchy image instead and I kind of like it. I will keep trying for the Ventosa.

What was your first impression of this photograph?
My first impression (meaning I wasn’t really paying close attention…) was that this was a lovely still life of a bouquet or flower arrangement - and a beautiful one at that. But upon further inspection and opening the larger view, I see the abstract treatment of the arrangement.
I love the water color treatment, including the background, which is lovely. This is beautifully crafted.
My only comment/suggestion would be the crop from the left to make square. A completely pesonal interpretation and not really a nit. The space to the left isn’t really adding to the image - then again, there is the school of thought not to center a subject, so that’s ok too!
Thank you Lon, I appreciate your input. I debated back and forth about the crop and really couldn’t decide. I do like the square format so not sure why I didn’t just go for that!!

The image really works - unusual, painterly , dramatic - almost like an unfinished watercolour.
Crop a tiny bit from left (perhaps) - but not as far as square. LOVE the shadow of the vase.
Only thing I might strive for is making the centre of the image (or where you want the viewers’ eyes to finish) a bit more dramatic. The eyes get pulled to the 3 green leaves whereas the yellow flower in the centre is where I feel the composition centre is
This looks like a watercolor to me (could be because I’m taking a watercolor class right now - ha). What kind of blending mode did you use? I’ve never done the Pep Ventosa thing, but the images I’ve seen of the technique look like the multiple images were blended so they have a translucent look. Your version is very nice, though. Maybe a 4x5 crop, taking off some open space on the right would be nice.
