Any pertinent technical details: I shot this in my backyard. I used my Nikon D500 with a Nikon 2-500mm lens, handheld at 1/1000th, f/8.0, ISO 4500, focal 290mm, and cropped it down to 2798x 3109 from 5568 x 3712. These are gorgeous birds however what they do to my black pickup is not pretty…

This is a pretty bird! Nice pose and environment. He seems a bit close to the left side. Maybe a bit of a vignette to bring more focus to the bird and at the same time tone down that bright spot in the upper left. I like the look of him talking and great light in the eye.

Welcome, Dave. A very nice pose from this Band-tailed. The exposure and detail both look excellent. You could probably make the eye think there’s more room on the left by taking a touch off the right instead.
