Description
I returned yesterday from a brief trip to Reelfoot Lake, a cypress swamp in northwest Tennessee. The target bird was bald eagles. We found one dining on a bird on top of the frozen lake and also had the fly over shown in the third image.

I’ll bet that lake doesn’t freeze over very often, Allan. It made for some nice shots, particularly the eagle on the ice. The angle of the light in the first image makes it more powerful than either of the others for me.
All very pleasing eagle shots, Allen. I’m with Dennis is choosing the first as my favorite. I’m hard pressed to say why, though. Maybe as Dennis said it’s the light, which seems more even on the first one, with the head being more dominant in the second.
Allen, what great shots of a great subject. To me, anytime I have an eagle in front of my lens it’s a good photography outing. I think #1 is my favorite too. They are all good. It must have been very cold for you out there though. Glad you were rewarded for your efforts.
Interesting take on this bald eagle munching on a duck or goose. The lighting has a little more impact for the first over the second. The eye is certainly stronger in the first as well. I wish that the tail was not for-shortened, due to the angle as presented, but overall quality and color make thes a fun comp to look at…Jim
Real pleasing image here of this bald eagle on the lake and ice.. It looks like it’s been munching on something. Good job on the focus. Sounds like you had a good experience at a different life than you usually go to.
