About This Image
This is a shot from my Wednesday visit to the local state park pond. This swallow came in fairly close and began to preen and struck some interesting poses. Having an 800mm lens on a crop sensor camera gives some nice reach for such captures of small birds. I was glad to get the view of the forked tail so well.

These really made me smile. Especially going from one to another to see that head move. Terrific colors - I had no idea they were purple and orange. And to see one still for more than 1/2 a second is pretty great. I love the iridescence you caught as well as the overall swoopy shape of the trailing primaries and the tail. Background handled well as per usual. Wow.
