Very interesting, Peter. I’m interested in what the other images will show. This looks like it could go about anywhere, but it has me hooked to see the next set.
The charm of these puffins is undeniable; their interactions always bring a smile. Peter, your capture of these three puffins on the rocky terrain is delightful and brings a real sense of their social behavior.
The composition here works well, with the trio forming a natural triangle that guides the viewer’s eye across the scene. The soft, diffused lighting helps to bring out the texture of their plumage without harsh shadows, adding a gentle touch to the overall atmosphere. The muted background rocks don’t compete for attention, allowing the puffins to stand out prominently.
This image resonates with a sense of community and connection among these birds. The way they engage with each other hints at a deeper story, perhaps of camaraderie or familial bonds, which adds a layer of warmth and intrigue. Nice one Peter!
Love these shots. Am waiting for some more. Are the yellow areas some sort of lichen? I see evidence of some in the background. I like that the puffin in the background is out of focus. While showing its presence, it is not so much as to distract from the others which are the main points of interest. Keep them coming.
Hi Dennis, Sandy, Don, Jim & Allen
Thank you for the comments, yes the yellow on the rocks is lichen. The fog had lot to do with the lighting and am happy DXO PhotoLab was able to handle the color balancing and feather detail.
Peter
Technical: Hi Peter, Nice interaction between the Puffins. Too bad the onlooker is OOF and a little too tight to the edge and it puts the balance a bit off for me. Like the others I’ll look forward to more images.
Hi Steve
Thank you for your comments. Once again I am guilty of the saying “you con’t see the forest for the trees”. I tend to concentrate on the highlight and not the overall story. There is room in these frames to open-up the background.
