Great Image Blake, I love the leading lines going towards the mountain peak and the milky way. As far as composition goes I think you nailed it, nothing I would change there. With the processing I would try to tone down the highlights to the left of the peak as they seem to be on the edge of just a bit too bright for my taste. Another personal preference is that I would clone out some of the shooting stars or planes going through the milky way belt as I find them a bit distracting. Great Work!

I’m agreeing with David on this points for editing. For my tastes the light on the snowy peaks is more than just a tad bright. Most noticeably on the very far right. I also agree, with the scale, the meteors just don’t add much. But I can understand having them!
Yea, just nitpicking on a great well though out image!

I do like the vertical pano format. That alone creates interest. The subdued color is also effective with this subject and composition. However, the composition almost has a volcano-like feel with the alignment of the Milky Way with the mountain peaks. I’m a bit on the fence as to whether this is effective.

Blake,

Overall, this is a very cool and well executed Milky Way image. The vertical pano works as presented, but I wonder whether or not the foreground rock is necessary - at least so much of it. Yeah, I get the lead-in aspect, but really the peaks and big night sky don’t really need that much of an introduction. I do very much like the lake being included.

I would agree with the others about the light. Not only the snowy bright white on the peaks, but the almost white sky to the left of the main peak and above the horizon. As a night sky image in general, that almost white part of the sky is pretty bright.

I don’t mind the shooting stars as that’s a natural occurrence and kinda fun and adds a little something to the overall presentation. With a couple tweaks this should be a killer image.

@Tony_Kuyper, @David_Nilsen @Ken_Henke yeah I agree, a bit too bright in spots and I will definitively be cloning out the meteors, thanks!

Thanks Lon! I agree it’s a bit too bright in spots and ill see how cropping off a bit of the bottom looks :beers:
