Bell's Beach Stairs

This taken with my S24 phone for the purpose of recording the location data, which my 5Ds does not do. I thought I could come up with a reasonable image using this raw file but I can’t get rid of my shadow on the top of the stairs. I’ve tried removal, clone stamp and other tricks but the end product always looks rubbish.

Looking forward to seeing what the experts can do!

My Edit

I haven’t downloaded this to try, but one thing that has worked for me with large things needing removal is to do them a small section at a time. Have you tried that with this one?

Thanks Kristen.

Tried everything I can think of. Maybe I’m too fussy. It might be a case once seen, the shadow can’t be unseen.

Yeah, but I kind of like it, too. It’s not as though it’s a pristine landscape with no human presence - it’s a picture of a staircase, so a shadow isn’t intrusive, at least to me. We’re so used to being behind the camera that we sometimes feel out of place in front of it and so I think you should embrace it. It’s subtle and most people won’t notice it right away.

Hi Mark,

I played around with this in PS using the remove tool, as Kristen suggested, a step at a time and came up with this. I think it removes the shadow and overall seems consistent with the weathering pattern.

That’s well done Allen. I tried the remove tool a few times but I’ll have another go.

Cheers,
