Hi Steve, great image here. I do think the foreground distracts from the scene. In fact I see a crop starting above the foreground that works quite well, I think. I also get a feeling that the image is a bit over done with contrast/clarity/sharpness. Not sure which one.
I do really like the scene though.

I agree with @David_Bostock - and I think you could just darken those up a tiny bit and it would fix that issue. I agree the background seems a bit crunchy too - perhaps clarity or something else?

That’s the crop I was seeing. Well done.
Steve, I think the second color crop is the best of the bunch. I really like the contrast between the dark and light bark of the different trees and the reflections round it all out.
