The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
After a week of cold stormy weather, the Bighorns have come down to the lowlands around Yellowstone. These two Bighorns were having a status “discussion”. During these exchanges it’s routine to see one kick the other with it’s front leg. On occasion, this leads to a head-to-head battle, but most of the time the second male shows little or no reaction (as was the case here). Then I opened the file and saw that the kicker was also biting his rival. That the first time I’ve noticed that extra aggression.
Specific Feedback
This could possibly be cropped to square with the animals centered. What do folks think?

Mark, the scene provides real insight to life on the range or prairie, so to speak. I think in the past I’d mentioned on some of your previous Big Horn photos that my grandparents lived close enough to wandering herds that as kids we could here the rams butting those big horns and the echoing was almost frightening at times. I can’t imagine the headaches from those impacts…
The only thought for change might be to bringing down the exposure slightly and add a bit contrast / saturation…Just a thought…
I think a square crop would be a better option here, Mark. Very cool that you got the front leg lick AND the bite in the butt. I was just up in Yellowstone and didn’t see any of these guys so good for you to capture them, particularly two large males with nice horns. The environment feels and looks just right to me. I love the intense look of the male doing the biting.
You managed to capture the animal behaviour well, both kick and the bite. But somehow it fails to result in a very successful image, could be POV, angle of animals or the presentation.
David, it takes several snow events to drive the Bighorns down to where they’re more accessible. This year is the earliest that I’ve seen them in the lower areas in and around the park.
