Birefringent, Psychedelic Ice

After one of the warmest Decembers on record, we’re having a very cold January. That does give me lots of ice to play with and a chance to further investigate the conditions that lead to the ice showing birefringence. This view was on a quiet section of the C&O Canal downstream from Great Falls, taken yesterday. The raw file has very limited dynamic range, so I let Adobe add it’s saturation as I expanded the histogram. I did have to do some desaturation in post processing. Great looking abstract. It is a real treat of shape and color.

Lovely abstract
Minor nits - LUC large off white area - consider cropping that off
The other is the vertical white irregular area - perhaps a little distracting

Wish that I could “see” like this!

A really appealing abstract Mark. I love the diagonal flow of the shapes and colors.

In my opinion, I think you could add back a bit more saturation here without this even getting close to be overssaturated. I think a little more saturation make the image even more graphic looking.

This is an amazing abstract Mark.
