Description
Another image from that special day in 2017. This is the only time I’ve managed to get a close shot at this species.
Specific Feedback
I know it’s awful busy, but to me, when it gets like this, the business just becomes background noise and it doesn’t bother me. I do have a special liking for half-hidden birds, so the reeds in front of the heron appeal to me.
Opinions?

I really like this photo…I find the bird half hidden very intriguing. The reeds create a story and lots of texture. I particularly like the foreground. It’s wonderful to have such lovely photos to look back on!
Hi Dennis, the reeds in this story help tell the story and it’s great that the head is nicely framed by them. Very sharp head and eye. I only have one image of this species which also makes it an interesting image to me and a fine catch.
Nice story of the bird’s life and habitat here. A wary one, but a hunter and balancing the two keeps it quite active and alert, I’m sure. The grasses are prominent, but secondary. Darkening or cropping is probably not going to help here since the bird is so well captured. I’ve only ever seen them desperate to get away from me, so good job!
