About This Image

We had a small storm move through and woke up to a comfortably cool morning. A rose breasted grosbeak was at the feeder so I brought out the camera, pushed aside the window screen and waited for the bird to re-appear. Unfortunately, it did not, but blue jays and cardinals swooped in for breakfast. It was dark and cloudy, so the blues were looking quite good for this jay. I find that jays are very clever and like kingfishers are difficult to photograph. They are adept at concealing themselves and will dart out quickly to snag a morsel of food.

How do you like this comp? Does the pose and crop tell us where the red squirrel is at? Thank you looking…

Terrific background, perch, and pose. Looks like you got all three of the important things in this image. It’s quite enjoyable to look at.

Hi Jim, really like the colors rendered in this image. Nice pop for sure while maintaining a natural look. Crop and pose go well together as does the title. Well done.

Beautiful look at the Blue Jay, Jim. Colors and detail look perfect. Pops nicely against the background. When I’m back east, visiting my daughter, this is one of my favorite birds to photograph. As you said, not easy to get out in the open like this.

The overcast did create some great color in the Bluebird, Jim and The scolding pose comes across quite well. Excellent work.

Love the pose. Perfect !!
