Bluebird being Grabbed

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was out back photographing a pair of western bluebirds investigating our backyard bird box and happened to get this moment of an oak titmouse (that was IN the box) grabbing the tail of the bluebird when it was near the hole. (Look closely at its tail for the grab, and that’s its body showing in the hole). I think the titmouse eventually lost the battle.

A very cool action image, Dave. It would be even nicer if the Titmouse had been identifiable in the image, but sometimes the birds just don’t cooperate that way. If you have the pixels, you might do a second image showing just the tail and the grab to go with the overall image.

Good timing, Dave, to catch this action. Nice flying pose and detail. As Dennis said, an alternate image might be a tight crop just showing the male and the grab.
