Morning Western Bluebirds

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got this couple in the early morning considering taking up residence in our backyard bird box. Hope they decide to stay.

Specific Feedback

Cropping? I tried having more space on the left for them to potentially jump into but I opted for this crop which seemed more balanced to me. Thoughts?

Nice job, Dave. I always seem to have a shadow from the roof overhang with this species. The even light worked really well here.

Lovely capture with great light and good colors! I think it could be good to have a little more room on the left and less on the right. I wonder if darkening the house makes a difference in the feeling about the composition?

You caught some nice poses, Dave. Lovely colors and nice background. It’s nice to capture a pair of bluebirds in this setting-tells a story. Hope they stay, too. In my neck of the woods, all too often the Violet-green swallows seem to beat them out. To my eye, the NR seems to have smoothed out the feather detail a bit. Agree with Diane’s thoughts on cropping.
