The Tone and Texture of the Wood, It is all there. Great in B&W. Beautiful Image!!!

Hi Delton!
Very nice image, fits the theme perfectly. You have excellent contrast, texture, and sharpness where you want it. And an excellent subject, too.

You might consider cropping a bit of the left side. I might bring the left edge in to meet the wood so that you don’t have any of the background texture on the left side. And perhaps to balance it all out, a little burning down of the right hand side. My eye follows the two lines of the bent wood right out of the frame. I might also consider burning down the upper right corner a bit, it’s definitely the brightest thing in the image. I don’t think you can crop out that background texture without losing too much of the image, but I’d try to de-emphasize it.

Excellent image overall!

Julie: Thank you. I’ll try that

Thank you. What a place to visit, the bristlecone pine forest out of Big Pine. It is closed in winter (much snow).

Delton: I love the subject and your conversion looks really good. Just for fun I cropped away the BG areas on both sides. Filling the frame with all of these wonderful textures seems the way to go for me. I would also like to see the color version of this as the colors of the wood in this kind of image is usually compelling in its own right. Overall very nicely seen, composed, captured and . >=))>
