A wonderful bird, Christine and I like the setting. Overall the image seems rather dark to me and I think the shadows might want to be brought up some more. Not knowing what the bird actually looks like, it just feels a bit off to me. There’s also a lot of banding in the green background. I’ve seen it off an on in images and there always seems to be a problem diagnosing it. I’m making a wild guess that it’s due to too low a quality setting in your jpeg conversion since your file size is only 248 kb. Unless you have a slow internet connection, there’s no need to go under 1 or 2 MB for this site. I’ve set my limit in my LR export at 2MB and after resizing to 2048 on the long side, it’s never approached that limit with highest quality.

I do like the way all those branches curve, so I wouldn’t mess with them, and the kingfisher’s pose is really nice.

Thank you so much for your comments @Dennis_Plank . I’ll look at brightening. I exported using 60% and 2,000 pixels on the long side. 72 dpi.

Hi Christine
I like the framing and the overall look of this photograph. The nits Dennis has pointed out.
