Allen: I think that this is an excellent composition of this tiny bird (weight 10g). The bird forms an appealing diagonal versus the perpendicular buds. The background is well muted and allows the bird to stand out. My only minor suggestion would be to desaturate the oof buds in the background as they are a bit bright.
Hi Allen, very nice pose - love the acrobatic look here! Love the color of the buds and how they go with the bird. Agree on toning down the bud in upper background. Nice catch.
Excellent frame with very nice light and a great pose, Allen. The Alder flowers add a lot to the image. Interesting to see their reflection in the bushtit’s eye. The bright oof flowers at the top do draw the eye away from the main subject. @Richard_Sandor’s suggestion is a good one - alternately you can try selectively reducing their brightness.
Sorry I’m late to the party, Allen. This is gorgeous. Beautiful work on the Bushtit. I like removing the oof catkin in the back, but like @Peter_Morrissey I miss the stems of the main characters.
I think I’m looking a version 2.0 here so I can’t opine about the buds being too bright. All I know is this is a really special capture. Well done. I know what a challenge these little guys are to get. I chased one around a pine tree this morning for several minutes and never did get a shot! Was this guy alone? I usually see them in a flock.
@Allen_Brooks We wait for our resident flock of Bushtits to come through our backyard with great anticipation. They bless us a couple of times per week with their activities. I know how hard they are to capture and I admire this photograph so much for the light, pose, and composition. I do prefer the looser crop but I would be proud to have either of these in my library. Wonderful!
