I thought I’d post some cardinals in the snow I took a couple of days ago. Attracted by peanuts and sunflower chips.

A very nice series with good detail in the snow with a clean wintry BG. My favorites are 3 and 5. Female cardinals have interesting colors and the raised crest adds a lot of character to the image. …Jim

Very nice job on these, Allen. You’re getting the snow down very well. It looks nice and white, yet it’s retaining good texture.

Agreed, the crest lift and over the shoulder look she’s giving you is really nice. Quite a personality there. Mainly on the shots of the female, I’d see about lifting the mid tones a bit and also brightening her eye. The snow looks a tad subdued in those shots so a global will probably work fine. I’ve only seen one Cardinal in the yard the whole time I’ve lived here (9 1/2 years) and so I’m a little jealous.

All are excellent! I’m partial to the females too – I always think they look like they are wearing lipstick. I agree with @Kris_Smith about raising the mids a bit on the females. I’m also jealous – we just don’t have them out here – so please keep giving me chances to enjoy them!
