Cascades Creek Gully

Here’s another landscape scene for the jigsaw puzzle weekly challenge. This is a mix of plant life that grows in seasonal creek gullies in many subalpine meadows of Washington’s Cascades. The mix of order and chaos drew me to this scene, and also seems like it would make for an interesting jigsaw puzzle.

I’m interested in feedback on any aspect of this image.

Jim, the mix of green ferns and red columbine jump right out. Finally recognizing the pond at the top came as a pleasant surprise. The purples of the thistles brings in another color adding to the invitation. This would make a fun, challenging puzzle. My one thought is that some subtle burning-in of the ferns in the bottom center might work by reducing how much attention they get. You don’t want to do too much, because the triangle that they make pointing to the columbine works well.
