Beautiful detail in that silky fine plumage, Dave, and I love the shadows of the pine needles on the bird. I do wish it had turned its head a bit more toward you, but I’d still take this. These have such a high pitched call that I have trouble hearing them any more, but my wife hears them and alerts me. In the hot season, they’ll come to running water or a drip sometimes.

Great catch, Dave. The needles give it a different touch in a good way. Well done. Can’t wait for these guys to arrive up here. Should be soon.

A nice catch, for sure, even if the pose is not ideal. I like the needles, as opposed to the usual berries in waxwing images.

Very nice catch with a lovely setting! The end of the crest reveals some masking that could be feathered.
