Change of heart

Taken earlier in the month, I couldn’t resist this little bit of hemlock in deep snow. Not sure if it’s just a branch or a tiny tree, but the dappled sunlight drew me to the scene. I shot one when the cloud covered the sun and it just was too flat. This wasn’t quite full sun, but enough to shine the snow and make little shadows. Conifers are the only greenery. Today it’s in the teens and snowing on and off. Ah spring.

Lr for all of the processing - wb adjustment, the usual curves to reduce highlights and boost shadows and whites. Gradient filter to even out the light. Sharpening & vibrance. No texture or clarity. Cleaned up some bits on the snow.

Kris, what a nice find and capture. I like that the sun gave you just a touch of shadows of the little branches. I can see why it drew you to the scene. fine capture.

Thanks @Shirley_Freeman - we are but two appreciators.

This fine scene works nicely, Kris. I like the shadows as they add depth. I also think the texture of the snow is excellent. The comp ain’t too bad either.
