Lovely even in death. I like that some are side on and some more facing. Good frosty bits, too and the bg is great. I find that is sometimes the hardest part of doing these - trying to find a good bg.

This is a perfect example of the value in using long macro lenses. The BG is nice and soft and complements the browns in the ironweed. Great detail in the snow and ice and the highlights are well controlled. The position of the snow explains the horizontal comp. This is fine as presented. Happy Thanksgiving…Jim

This does a bang up job of saying fall is ending and winter is coming. Viewing this at full-size I think it would be a beautiful image even without the ice, but the ice puts it over the top. I love the details in the large view. I agree about the background. It’s softness lets you focus on the subject, and the color is so complementary.

Gorgeous, Mark. I love the elegance of the stems, the combination of the spent seed heads and ice, communicating very precisely the shift in seasons from Fall to Winter. The background bokeh is spectacularly smooth, so the choice of aperture really worked well here.

I also really like the warm tones in the seed heads and the right side background. They also reinforce the transition from the amber days of autumn to the cold white of winter. Wonderfully done!

No nits from me.
