Cold #2

Second image from the Shaniko, Oregon ghost town. This is a wonderful tree on the edge of a field. Posted here because of the fence. What drew me to this was how the ice touched some, but not all of the branches.

Specific Feedback Requested

Any comments appreciated. This was shot at f/1.2 to make sure the background was out of focus, although with the fog that probably wasn’t necessary. The lens has some vignette at f/1.2. I chose to keep it here because I think it adds to the feel of the image.

Technical Details

85mm, 1/2700 Sec @ f/1.2, ISO 125.

Tom,
Looking at this makes me feel cold! I really like the detail in the tree branches against the foggy, unfocused background. The inclusion of the fence on the right adds a lot to the composition. On my screen, the ground seems a bit too gray compared to the background snow. I wonder if making it more bright would help.

Jim
