Hm. This feels snapshotty which isn’t typical of your work and so I wouldn’t have guessed it was yours. I say that because the pose is slightly awkward and the light is pretty contrasty. Don’t get me wrong though - I have my share of grab shots of wildlife in the yard, too, and it’s hard to overcome the excitement of seeing the critter and maybe getting a shot without having to work too hard. So, what can be done…well toning down that lower edge would be a good place to start. Sometimes with really bright areas like this, starting with a linear profile can have a positive effect. Also…do you have corn or another evenly planted crop in your yard? The background has a lot of repeating patterns that make me think a lot of AI-generated fill has been used. Last, I’d use a radial mask on the shaded eye to open up the exposure and shadows there, it might help with the connection we have as viewers.
Phew. Sorry so late on this, but the holidays you know… I guess we’re getting back to normal.
