Common snipe with midge

A cool and cloudy day in north-central Iceland. Lots of bugs and a fair number of birds. Fortunately, these bugs don’t bite but there are so many of them that one’s comfort is affected when shooting. I did remove some bugs from the image but kept the one next to the chest area because it was so sharp.

Hi David
The detail on this Common snipe is amazing. Sometimes clouds and be a are a photographers best friend. Nice work.

Wonderful pose and detail! The ripples in the BG are a very nice touch to give some subtle detail to the BG and give a sense of the surface. I like the degree to which the FG is OOF, providing a base to the image without being distracting.

Beautiful, David. Superb detail and color in the snipe with a nice background. It’s interesting to see one in such an exposed setting without a bunch of vegetation around.

Outstanding capture here, David. Excellent detail and I, too like the droplets breaking up the bg surface. As fine a shot as I’ve ever seen, top to bottom.
