Description

Living next to a conservation area we deal with smoke every few years. This year the wind changed shortly after the photo and I was forced to go back inside.

Technical Details

Nikon Z6, 24mm (24-70mm lens), f8, 1/250 sec, ISO 100.

I like the contrast of all the green leading to the treeline and the smoke behind it, Teep. The patches of blue sky behind the smoke help tell the story as well. I really like the area where the sun is shining through the smoke.

Hi Teep, I ditto @Dennis_Plank’s comments. I have cropped the foreground grass to emphasize the clouds, sun, and trees more. What do you think about this?

Interesting effect from your crop @Larry_Greenbaum. It created a far more dramatic and to my mind “menacing” feel.

Thanks, it definitely does emphasize the smoke. After I took the image I didn’t give it much thought as I really considered it as a record image and nothing more. Maybe I should pay a little more attention before I post an image.
