Cool design

I was curious about a B/W. Unfortunately the original is a JPEG (brand new iPhone and I hadn’t found how to turn on raw capture) and the IQ is seriously lacking. A PS B/W adj layer worked much better than SEP here.

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I find these old cooling towers fascinating but never seem to have a camera with me when I find one that strikes my fancy. So I used the camera I had – an iPhone.

Specific Feedback

All comments welcome! I ordered a few more clouds but didn’t get them. There was other stuff on the sides and I thought the squarish crop fit the industrial subject. This was about the only angle I could get without possibly risking getting shot myself, but I like the off-centeredness of it.

Technical Details

Just a few slight global tweaks in LR (it was a JPEG so not much to do). Into PS to clone out some sort of skinny structure toward the left that was unrelated.

Cool geometry, Diane, and they do have that unkempt industrial look, like “we found a cheaper solution and we’re too cheap to remove the old stuff”.

Pretty cool pic for an iPhone image. Nicely seen, Diane.

I love these older industrial ornaments. Love the green against the blue sky. Well spotted!

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank, @David_Bostock and @glennie! I’ve often admired this sort of structure with no chance to shoot it – finally managed one!! Maybe I can do more!
