James, Crack or dawn aside, this is a nice well composed image with moody fog. To me, you may see differently, the color could be toned down to get a calmer, softer color that would bring out early morning foggy mood. Is the orange a dawn color or is this in a wildfire? Also, notice the white marks in the trees and along the rim of the hill. This could be a problem in selecting sky in LR where the program failed to select the sky between the branches of the trees. Or could you have overharpened the image causing halos? If you have an original RAW file
you could reprocess. Using Photoshop for the select sky and select background / foreground would be more accurate. I like Tony Kuyper’s TK9 plugin for this work. I toned down the orange with a TK9 color mask that I edited by lowering the saturation. You can take it down as much as you choose.

Larry, I appreciate your detailed critique and the rework of the image. I will admit that I struggled with the level of saturation and the overall fell of the image.
