This is nice. I think you’ve achieved your goal of capturing this moody time of day. My only small nit is it seems a little bottom heavy and dark down there. I guess it’s BG trees contributing to that effect. No biggie.
Thanks. It was dark and foggy , not much light especially at the bottom. Hard image to get what i saw and felt. But I shot some frames for fun … Thanks for showing interest …
I really like the image. To me, it’s very foreboding and ominous, which I tend to like and seems to fit the foggy morning vibe. The weight seems fine to me–not too heavy at the bottom. Maybe explore a little less contrast if you like an airier feel to the photo. Very nice.
You definitely captured that early morning fog/sun coming up through the trees vibe. There is decent balance although the right side of the image is heavier than the left but I do like the curve that you achieved at the top of the bushes. I can see cropping this to a square by removing the left side of the image and having the light and that tree in the shape of a V be the focus of the image. I might even reduce the contrast quite a bit to soften the look making it more fog like but I do like what you have presented here. It’s very, as @Dave_Dillahunt puts it, foreboding and ominous looking. If that’s the look you’re after I say you nailed it.
This works nicely for me, with the trees seeming to radiate from a point outside the frame. Love how the sun has lightened the branches in front of it!
Thanks everyone. I have pretty much gone B&W these days. Trying to not only capture a style and look but how I felt when i shot the image. Just holding my camera and Breathe !!! Learning this as I age I guess. Just be ME !!!
I ditto @Michael_Lowe’s comment. To me the question is not what did you see, but how do you want the image to match your vision. I would open the bottom up some to alleviate the dark heaviness.
Hi Gil,
Moody and mysterious; I am liking this very much. With the bare trees and the slightly darker processing this has the feel of a gloomy winter day. I particularly like the soft delicate light coming through the fog and illuminating a few of the branches. Beautifully done IMO!
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. Photography has changed for me. It’s how we see and feel when looking at an image and when we push that shutter button. Peace to our Planet.
