Crested Butte Wildflowers

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Although there were many opportunities for images during this peak season for wildflowers this scene lighting was unique. Not sure this goes in Flora genre or landscape.

Specific Feedback

Is this too chaotic? Are shadows handled appropriately to add to the scene?

Technical Details

It looks like a flora candidate to me. What a dense look at a sunflower field. Your angle and POV is a bit more intimate than is usually presented in a scene like this. I could honestly do without the sun, but it may be that you want our attention going to more of that. The flowers themselves look good and haphazard which makes it look more wild than some compositions might. Quite haphazard and happily so I think.

Mario, I think this is terrific. You chose your point of view very well. The sun “star” effect is overused and it won’t carry a photo, but it’s fine in a supporting role. That’s how it’s used here. The photo is clearly about what the sun’s lighting up. Good work.
