Dear Humans,

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I am famous for walking on water, not for my penmanship.
Regards, CC Jacana

I liked the contrast between the delicate bird and the ugly litter. A little bird that treads so lightly facing off with humanities throwaways. Close by there were two tennis balls a plastic bottle and a strange orange rubbery thing.

A sad commentary on our lack of stewardship of our only home in the universe. That a bird has to give our negligence a stare down.

A fine image of the Jacana, Glennie, and the white and blue pen really stands out as a disturbing element, which is what you want for the message this image conveys. The way the bird appears to be looking at the pen also helps with the message.

I hope this image inspires more people to post this kind of thing in this forum. Hopefully, there’s no one on this site that’s contributing to the litter on our planet, but it never hurts to raise awareness.

Well done.

Thank you Youssef and Dennis!

I have way too many images of litter in waterways.

Nicely done, Glenys. I especially appreciate the posture of the bird and the fact that the pen is blurred but also easily identifiable. To me, this choice of focus and timing highlight your prioritizing life and the degree to which the pen itself is a kind of degradation.
