I keep trying to capture the incredible contrast between the tissue-thin delicate blossoms of barrel cactus and the punishing firmness of the spines.

In order to get the contrast between the two areas of the cactus, backlighting the blossoms might bring out the delicacy of each petal. Worth a try?
