I’d appreciate some better tips to handle reds like this. This is better than my last red bird (a mess) but still not ideal. Thanks in advance!

I am really enjoying the color scheme in this image. Beautiful pose. Welcome composed. I like the setting. I think this is one of the tanners I missed when I was in Costa Rica.
This doesn’t look oversaturated in the reds, Sandy. Maybe just a bit off in hue (slightly orangish on my monitor). For feather detail I still rely on an old, old Topaz plugin called Detail 3 that gives me lots of fine tuning for ability for bringing out texture in bird feathers. If you’ve ever had Topaz Studio, there’s a version included in it and while they don’t sell it anymore, the last time I checked, you could still download it from their archives and use your old activation code. It has fine, medium and coarse texture sliders and a boost slider for each as well. For very fine detail like this, I’ll use the fine slider at about 22 with a boost of 10 as my starting point and work from there. Wit the great noise reduction software available these days, it really works well.
